It was a mixed day in the markets, but an almost audible sigh of relief could be felt by participants when the new storm track showed Wilma recurving back away from the beleaguered NW gulf, and into Florida. Distilates in particular eased on the news, with December Heating Oil falling almost 5 cents on the day.

The S&P contract (I follow the e-mini) set up for a trend day, and clearly trended down for most of the day. We sold 2 contracts at 1190.00 at 9:50, and followed it all day, covering at 4:00 at 1181.75.

The NQ contract didn't behave quite so nice - we went short 3 contracts at 1550.00 at 1:30, and reversed to the long side at 1554.00 at 3:40, just in time to watch the bottom drop out over the next 20 minutes, getting stopped out at 1545.50 at 4:00.

So, P/L on our daytrading was $825 on ES and -$750 on NQ, less commissions of $5 per side per contract - $65 - for a net of $10 on the day... I guess that beats a loss, but not by much!

The TNR filter is showing Neutral on ES for tomorrow, but trend day again for NQ.

Finally, our short straddle is still in the money, but the S&P sell off is eating into our put leg profits, with SPY VO closing at 1.50 (up from .65 yesterday). A little rally tomorrow would certainly be nice.
